Women’s Style: Cozy Cardigans

Hello 🐷🌸💖

Hope you’re having a lovely day 🙂☀️

I have a lot of cardigans – in all shapes, sizes, colors, and prints – in my closet. I find them extremely versatile – as an extra layer to keep me warm or as an accessory to pep up an outfit or simply as a cover-up to hide any bulges 🙈😂 However, I have avoided wearing one popular style – the longline cardigan – for fear that it could make me look squat, wide, or just dowdy 😬

As the weather gets colder, longline cardigans are back on the scene and are just so cozy and comfortable that I have to try them out.

Here are eight longline cardigan (with jeans) outfits to take inspiration from this fall/ winter 🍂❄️

Outfit 1

Style Tip: While colors and patterns are great, choosing a neutral cardigan will allow you more wear and versatility.  Grey, cream, and blush are great cardigan colors to start with when building your wardrobe.

Style Tip: If you’re worried a long cardigan is going to overwhelm you, roll your jeans up so your ankles peek out. Wear a cardigan that is just slightly fitted around the arms and waistline to avoid looking too bulky.

Outfit 3

Style Tip: Sneakers look fine with long, oversized cardigans! Wear shorter jeans or cuff your jeans to show that flash of skin and keep the look from being too baggy.

Outfit 4

Style Tip: If you want to experiment with matching patterns while layering, the stripes on stripes look is a great starting point. And yes, stripes are not only for summer.

Outfit 5

Style Tip: Choose fitted bottoms, like skinnies or leggings with a chunky, slouchy cardigan to streamline the silhouette of your outfit. If you’re petite, throw on a pair of heels.

Outfit 6

Style Tip: Layer your cardigan over a button down, cuffing the sleeves of the shirt over the sleeves of your cardigan for a preppy vibe. Half tuck the shirt for shape. Tucking your jeans into your boots will also visually lengthen your legs.

Outfit 7

Style Tip: You can actually pep up an outfit by adding a splash of color. When wearing a patterned, colorful cardigan, keep the under layer simple. A white tee keeps the focus on your sweater.

Outfit 8

Style Tip: Duster (or maxi) cardigans provide an illusion of elongation. Choose a length that hits slightly below your knees. Make a monochromatic statement by layering different shades of the same color.

Longline cardigans allow you to play with proportions, add an edgy spin to your outfit and help to achieve that “off-duty model” vibe.

Do you wear long cardigans? Do you have any tips to style them so that they don’t look frumpy?
